![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Also, this episode was the last produced episode (they did some editing and stuff back at CBS) of TZ before the series was canceled, though not the last to be aired. From the first frame you know that this isn't a CBS produced episode of TZ because of the high production values in the cinematography. The cinematography must be hailed as quite an accomplishment. that was fun after seeing the film version. I've since found the text of the original short story online and read it. What's cool is that this story was written and first published in 1890! I'd rank Ambrose Bierce up there with HG Wells and other contemporaries, based on what I see in this story and film. This film won an Academy Award and Cannes Festival award. thus fitting with typical TZ themes and methods. Our full analysis and study guide provides an even deeper dive with character. The occurrence, or event, in our story takes place during the Civil War of the eighteen. What a surprise to find this incredible "episode" which I'd never ever seen, though it is actually an extraordinarily well and artistically done short film, produced entirely by a French film team, not CBS. Our story today is called, 'An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge. ![]() Camille deangelis books5/28/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() (Well, his name *is* on the cover of the spiffy new movie tie-in edition, but you know what I mean.) Anywho, back to the bio! My favorite of my novels i I'm the author of three fantasy novels for adults- Immaculate Heart, Mary Modern, and Petty Magic. David Kajganich wrote the script, and I often say (0% kidding) that if I could go back in time I'd novelize the screenplay and put both our names on the cover. My young adult novel, Bones & All, won an Alex Award from YALSA and the American Library Association in 2016 (thank you, librarians!!) In Burn for Me a decidedly new, alternate Houston, Texas is created, one where magic takes on some unusual forms, both magical and physical in humans. This rogue and highly coveted magic is now carefully controlled by powerful Houses, families with strong hereditary magic that now rule. Like Pandora's Box, once free these powers often couldn't be controlled completely. Set in an alternate world where scientist have discovered the Osiris serum which, when given to humans acted like a strange alchemical experiment gone wrong and resulted in their latent magical talents to burst free. ![]() ![]() Burn for Me opens up with an entirely new and fascinating magical world for fans and new readers to enjoy. ![]() The vanishing throne elizabeth may5/27/2023 ![]() ![]() THE VANISHING THRONE suffered from no sophomore or sequel syndrome. Meanwhile, it's been three years since Aileana has gone missing and Edinburgh is unrecognizable as the Wild Hunt has been unleashed and death and devastation is everywhere. ![]() Aileana Kameron, the last Falconer, is held prisoner by Lonnarch and suffered such grave torture at the hands of the evil fae. The revelations alone had my mind reeling! These fae, there's nothing simple about them, their lives might be long, but I think they're more volatile and human than us! His understanding of human nature is extraordinary and that is what makes his biography so powerful. He has no ax to grind his only object seems to be to render his subject as fully and as roundly as possible. Chernow has written his biography with sympathetic detachment, keenly aware of the limitations of life. It is Chernow’s well-paced and readable prose and the smooth organization of his story together with the sensible and impartial nature of his judgments that make the book so persuasive. Although there is nothing really original in this characterization, no one before has ever put together between two covers such a convincing depiction of the great man. One comes away from the book feeling that Washington has finally become comprehensible. Because he also has a feel for the contentious historical issues in the lives of his characters, his book ought to satisfy academic historians as well as the general readers who may be unaware of these issues. ![]() ![]() Ability to master the secondary sources as well as the primary materials is the secret of his remarkable success as a biographer. ![]() Mail-Order Wings by Beatrice Gormley5/27/2023 ![]() But as I write a biography or a historical novel, I feel like I'm living in that very different time and place: Sally's Revolutionary Boston, Miriam's ancient Egypt, or Laura Ingalls Wilder's Midwestern prairie. Now I live in a beautiful town in Massachusetts again. Then I moved to a town on the Hudson River, in New York, and my stories took place there. My first novels were set in a town in Massachusetts like Duxbury, where I lived at the time. My love of deep history inspired me to write Adara (ancient Israel), Salome and Poisoned Honey (the ancient Roman Empire) and Miriam (ancient Egypt). My interest in astronomy led me to write a biography of Maria Mitchell, America's first woman astronomer. For instance, my fascination with flying sparked my first book, Mail-Order Wings, as well as my biography of Amelia Earhart. Ever since, I've written about things that matter to me. ![]() Agatha christie charles hayward5/27/2023 ![]() ![]() She despised her brother-in-law as a parvenu and for his callousness towards his grandchildren. ![]() ![]() Lady Edith de Haviland was the sister of Aristide's late first wife she moved in to care for her motherless nephews.
